Maria Sharapova Expecting Her First Baby Boy

Former tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has shared some heartwarming news she is expecting a child, and it’s a boy!
The five-time Grand Slam champion, known as much for her fierce competitiveness on the court as for her successful ventures off of it, made the announcement via a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday. The 38-year-old included a serene black-and-white photo cradling her baby bump, accompanied by the caption: *”Counting down the weeks until we meet our little man 💙 Feeling grateful, excited, and so loved.”*
Sharapova and her fiancé, British businessman Alexander Gilkes, have kept much of their relationship private since they got engaged in December 2020. However, fans around the world have followed their journey with excitement, and the baby news was met with an outpouring of congratulations from fellow athletes, celebrities, and fans.
The couple has not yet revealed a due date, but sources close to Sharapova say she is well into her third trimester and “absolutely glowing.
Sharapova retired from professional tennis in 2020 after a storied career that saw her rise to World No. 1 and become one of the most recognizable faces in global sports. Since stepping away from the court, she has focused on business ventures, including her wellness brand and numerous philanthropic activities.
